The story behind this painting:
- The sun is setting on the Dead River as it passes under highway 441.
- All the boats have drifted on by out of view
- for an evening of fun at this local hangout or on their way to the Dora Canal.
- You catch a glimpse of the bridge's guard rail nestled among the oaks and cypress, and
- Your eye focuses in on a gentleman sitting quietly by the dock's gas pump, relaxing and fishing in the calm river.
- You can almost hear the mosquitos buzzing and moths beating their wings circling the lamp under the Palm Garden's sign.
- Cattails and moss sway in the warm, gentle breeze, allowing the colors of sunset to peak through browns, purples, pinks, yellows, and oranges in the sky and water.
- Palm Gardens is a piece of local history captured in paint for posterity.

About the Artist:
When people grow up, they often lose touch with their childhood visions of awe & wonder. Painting from life en plein air has given Dodi the opportunity to once again see the world with new eyes. Whether it's a landscape, street scene, still life, or portrait, her hope is to express through paint, the beauty and mystery inherent in all things.
